Jenny + Pete | Kananaskis Elopement | Canadian Rockies Wedding Photographers — Kendal and Kevin Calgary Wedding Photographers

Call it fate, or serendipity, but capturing Jenny + Pete’s Elopement last Spring in the Canadian Rockies was truly special. To give a quick backstory; just prior to the pandemic we were on a family holiday down in Palm Springs, California. One evening we excitedly reserved a spot at Norma’s in the Parker Hotel. As we were geeking out at the interior design of the lobby we heard our names (we are pretty famous lol)… obviously caught off guard, we turned around and there was Jenny + Pete, friends from our home city Calgary. We joined them for a quick drink and heard about their plans for an intimate wedding in Joshua Tree National Park, later that Spring. It’s a story we all know too well by now, but their plans were quickly derailed by COVID-19 and they had to come up with a plan B.

Back in Canada, our recent encounter fresh in mind, we helped them plan a mountain elopement on the shoreline of Barrier Lake, in Kananaskis. Luckily our backyard makes for a pretty good plan B! We started the day at Le Germain Hotel in Calgary before making the journey into the Canadian Rockies for their ceremony and portraits. This day was really symbolic for us as it was the first wedding after the initial pandemic lockdown. While things were nowhere near normal, it marked a shift towards optimism, and it was an honour to witness a day where love prevailed against all else.

Jenny + Pete came back to the city for a zoom reception with their friends and family (very much a new thing at the time) and a spectacular first dance on a rooftop patio, overlooking the city as the sun slowly set. It was all so Magical.

Congrats again guys - we never would have imagined what was just around the corner during our chance visit in Palm Springs, but we are so happy that you made it all work and that we were able to tell your story :)
