Wedding Venue Feature | Buffalo Mountain Lodge | Banff Wedding Photographers

Back in October we teamed up with Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts (CRMR) to do a feature on one of our favourite wedding venues in the Canadian Rockies - Buffalo Mountain Lodge. After a busy season of shooting weddings, it was so so lovely (and needed!) to unwind and spend a couple of nights at the lodge. If you're thinking of having a wedding or elopement in the Canadian Rockies, this blog post should give you a pretty good idea on why you should consider Banff + Buffalo Mountain Lodge.

If you've never visited before, Buffalo Mountain Lodge is only a 5 minute drive from the Banff townsite and just over an hour west of Calgary. The award-winning venue has everything that you need to unwind in the mountains - delicious food, an amazing outdoor hot tub and cozy cabin vibes. We documented our time at the lodge and are excited to share our adventures below.

Day 1: We made the short drive from Calgary to Banff and shortly after checking in our baby boy Brighton quickly felt right at home, shouting out ‘happy’ on repeat as he excitedly ran around the room. We pretty much did the same when we saw a charcuterie board and bottle of bubbly waiting for us (thanks CRMR!)

Afterwards, we headed down to the Sleeping Buffalo Dining Room for dinner. On the menu you’ll find a unique selection of delicious Rocky Mountain Cuisine, paired with an award winning selection of wines (check it out here - http://bit.ly/2EoWuwD). Brighton is a pretty harsh food critic and he was throwing his hands up in the air in applause!

Before bed we gathered up some wood and cozied up next to the fire in our room (probably our favourite thing to do).

Day 2: We woke to a beautiful sunrise and wandered down to the main lodge for coffee + breakfast (mmm eggs benny!)

Next we decided to take the short walk down into town to look around. On our way down we wandered over to the Tunnel Mountain Reservoir. The view is breathtaking and is literally right across the road from Buffalo Mountain Lodge. If you’re looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony venue in Banff, this is it! The walk to town is super easy and is a definite plus having all of the shops and restaurants so accessible.

After our walk we grabbed some more coffee + a quick bite at the Buffalo Mountain Cafe. This is the perfect spot if you’re looking to grab some tasty food on your way out exploring the beautiful scenery.

In the afternoon we put the cameras down and had a little family time (aka Brighton ran around in a field and picked up every stick within a 500m radius). As the evening rolled around, we left Brighton with a sitter (special thanks to Victoria) and had a lovely date at the Sleeping Buffalo Dining Room, sans bebe.

Day 3: After a wonderful stay it was time to pack our things and start the journey home. Thanks again to CRMR for another amazing stay and we can’t wait to be back at Buffalo Mountain Lodge, hopefully to shoot another beautiful wedding :)
