Wedding Venue Feature | Emerald Lake Lodge | Calgary Wedding Photographers

Earlier this month we teamed up with Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts (CRMR) to do a feature on the absolutely stunning Emerald Lake Lodge. During our stay, we were treated with world-class hospitality, authentically cozy Canadian accommodations and breathtaking scenery. If you're thinking of having a wedding in the Canadian Rockies, this blog post should give you a pretty good idea on why you should consider Emerald Lake Lodge.

If you've never been visited before, Emerald Lake is about 20 minutes west of Lake Louise, just north of Field, BC. There's a short road leading from the highway before you reach the day parking area. First impressions are important and Emerald Lake has that covered. There's a beautiful view of the lake on the left, with a bridge leading towards the little village on the right. One of the first things that you'll notice is Cilantro on the Lake. A gorgeous building resting right up to the waters edge (this is also one of the wedding venue options when booking here). Heading further into the village, past the guest cabins and up the hill, you'll soon run into the historic lodge. Built in 1902, the hand-hewn timber lodge includes a dining room, lounge + bar, reading + games rooms and conference facilities.

The guest cabins vary slightly in size but all come equipped with wood-burning fireplaces and private balconies. Be warned, there's no cell service and only limited wi-fi within the lodge, but this only adds to the feeling of tranquility and allows you to truly unwind and relax. Other amenities include a fitness room, sauna, an outdoor hot-tub and outdoor fire pits (for impromptu s'more roasting sessions - see the photos below). If you like exploring, there are endless trails nearby that range from long treks to casual walks (the 5km loop around the lake is a nice easy one to start out with).

If good food is a must for your wedding venue, based on our experience - Emerald Lake Lodge more than passes the test. We were treated to a wonderful 3 course meal in the dining room and our food was incredible! Our words simply won't do it justice, so just have a look at the photos :)

If you're planning a winter wedding, you're in luck! Unlike other spots in the Canadian Rockies, it's a little known secret that Emerald Lake Lodge is open year round. In fact, if you're staying mid-week your group might be some of the only guests there. During the winter months there is cross-country skiing and snowshoeing to keep your guests busy outdoors as well.

Truthfully this place is an absolute gem! If you want to see an actual wedding here, check out this sweet Australian couple's elopement that we shot back in July - (https://goo.gl/iGljuD). We're also going to be featuring Emerald Lake Lodge in our upcoming Love Stories + Other Life Adventures Vol. 02 Issue, with an interview from Emerald Lake Lodge's Conference Manager Jennifer Wilson (pictured below) so keep an eye out for that. The issue will be available in the new year but for now you can take a peek through our favourite photos below.

Thanks again CRMR! We can't wait to come back :)
