With Family Day weekend just passing here in Alberta, it got us thinking a little - weddings truly are amazing for gathering your closest friends and family together in one spot. It's a rare thing to have everyone's schedules align and so to have a tight knit group there to celebrate with you is a one-of-a-kind feeling.

For Alison + Laurie's wedding, a small group gathered together in the Rocky Mountains (equal parts Canadian and Australian) to witness an absolutely beautiful marriage between two wonderful people. It's sometimes overlooked but seeing the two sides come together, sharing stories and forming new relationships through the day is one of our favourite parts. Speeches often aren't included as 'portfolio' shots but they are probably some of the best photos for capturing the 'story' between you and your partner. Since our early days of shooting, we've always strived to capture the raw emotions on display (whether its heartfelt words from a best friend or a hilarious roasting that makes you want to crawl under the table). Alison + Laurie's reception was the perfect example of why we love speeches. The evening was hosted by Creekside Villa and it was full of good food, laughter, joyful tears and some really good music later on - everything as it should be.
