Aubree + Nobu | Fall Emerald Lake Wedding | Banff Wedding Photographers

Truth be told, video was never all that important to us. Photography was our passion and is what steered us down the path into the world of weddings. Even when we got married 5 years ago, our main priorities were good food, great music (Kevin poured countless hours into mixing his own playlist) and that all of our favourite people would be able to celebrate with us.

We (quite obviously) love photography and have always believed in the ability a photojournalist has to tell an amazing story, there’s so much power that lies within a still image. The idea of hiring a videographer never really made it into the mix for us and truthfully, to this day it’s one of our only wedding regrets (although, maybe it’s better that a few of those late night dance move memories have been lost forever…).

Kevin has been creating films since before we even met but in the past couple years he started to get serious and 2019 was our first season offering videography for our weddings. Now that we’ve had some time to reflect and really go through our work from last year, we’re both just so amazed how complimentary the two forms of storytelling are. Still photographs allow you to slowly relive the intricacies of your day, at your own pace, making beautiful moments stand still. But there is something about watching a film, in being able to see movement and hear voices. It’s a much more immersive experience and brings up completely different memories from the day.

In this new world that has suddenly taken shape, more and more couples are planning elopements + intimate weddings as large gatherings keep being pushed further and further. We’ve had more couples asking about both photo + video coverage as it’s such a beautiful way to share your day with guests who weren’t able to attend. And truthfully, we couldn’t agree more :)

Now we can keep talking about this but honestly, the best way is to simply show you. Below is Aubree + Nobu’s intimate wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge from this past fall. If you first watch their film and then scroll down through the photos, we think you’ll see what we’re talking about.

These two planned the most beautiful day in the Canadian Rockies with their closest friends and family. Aubree + Nobu had the most undeniable chemistry and the crisp fall colours made for such a stunning backdrop. It was obvious how much love was in the air throughout the day… and we couldn’t have been happier to not only tell the story of their day, but to get to know this genuinely lovely couple. It was such a pleasure A+N :)
