Rebecca + Frederik | The Malcolm Hotel Wedding | Canmore Wedding Photographers

Living in Calgary, we are pretty spoiled with such easy access to the Canadian Rockies. The epic Banff National Park is just an hour away, but even closer is the town of Canmore, a local gem (although word is definitely getting out). Canmore is an old mining town but has exploded with tourism as the scenery is unreal and the town itself is wonderful. There’s a bustling mainstreet and the food and drink scene is elevating itself each year.

With such a demand from visitors, there are plenty of hotels in Canmore, but our favourite is The Malcolm Hotel. It’s fairly new to the scene as it opened doors in late 2018. That said, it feels as though it’s always been there (a testament to the architecture and careful planning that went into the design). Rebecca + Fred chose the Malcolm for their wedding last fall and as you can tell from our gushing, we loved their choice of venue!

The day just before their wedding, smoke from nearby wildfires had closed in on Canmore but the winds shifted and the valley cleared out just in time. Their first look was held at Rebecca’s family home in Canmore and portraits were a short walk away (we love how personal everything was!)

Rebecca + Fred are the sweetest couple and the love for them was felt throughout the day. Their ceremony was on the outdoor patio with the stunning mountains as a backdrop. Straight after they were announced as a married couple, they went into their first dance (the whole thing had such a beautiful, intimate feel to it). The reception was held in the Edinburgh Castle Room and everything looks gorgeous (nice work Cassie!) An amazing dinner was served as speeches were made throughout the courses. Fred is from Pretoria, South Africa and sadly his family members were unable to make the journey to Canada, but during the reception there was a heartfelt video message played that had everyone in the room in tears. Even across the world, the love was strong.
