Kendal + Kevin Photography | Year In Review 2020 | Calgary Wedding Photographers
2020 was… a lot (to say the least). We all know the gist and so we’ll skip the recap and instead focus on some positives from our perspective. Namely, how 2020 was the year that love prevailed despite all else.
As New Year’s came to a close, we were so excited for 2020. We had a busy wedding schedule lined up with plenty of travel plans but, like everyone things were thrown sideways. We certainly had moments of anxiety + were worried about our business but this was the year we (especially Kendal) finallly learned how to ‘roll with it.’
All of the uncertainty made it even more important to ‘stay in the present’ and so we fought the urge to constantly look ahead. Instead, we did our best to narrow our scope, keep things simple and enjoy the small things (mmm…like Kevin roasting his own coffee!)
We teamed up with CRMR at the start of summer for the perfect start to our ever-changing season. Photographing + staying at 3 stunning properties in the Canadian Rockies was essentially our dream job and we loved every second of it (even our 5am sunrise hike with a 3 year old).
As summer continued and restrictions eased, we suddenly found ourselves very, very busy. Our couples adapted, embraced the outdoors and safely celebrated their love with beautifully intimate weddings + elopements. Looking back, this past season was especially memorable. With so much darkness in the world, each and every wedding was a refreshing dose of joy and a reminder of better times ahead.
At the end of July we witnessed our first (+ likely last) border wedding along the Canada/U.S.A border (a truly unforgettable experience). Some loved family members tied the knot close to home and on the West Coast (Congrats again Mike + Ash and Hillary + Tim!) and altogether we somehow shot more sessions than we did in 2019 (fewf, the fall was a whirwind).
We know that there’s still a difficult path ahead but we remain optimistic and excited for 2021. Through it all, we know love will prevail once again.
